With the new school year underway, the George Washington Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) reminds teachers and students of several youth-oriented contests that the SAR sponsors.
How much does it cost to join the Sons of the American Revolution?
The National Society cost for the application fee is $100 (US). The National Society dues are $35(US) The State Society cost would add to this amount. The same for Chapter cost.
How do you qualify for Sons of the American Revolution?
Any male shall be eligible for membership in the SAR who is a citizen of good repute in the community; and a lineal descendant of an ancestor who was at all times unfailing in loyalty to and rendered acceptable service in the cause of American Independence.
Does the DAR give scholarships?

How do I prove my lineage for Dar?
Any woman 18 years or older who can prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence is eligible to join the DAR. She must provide documentation for each statement of birth, marriage and death, as well as of the Revolutionary War service of her Patriot ancestor.

How much is a DAR scholarship?
The Richard and Elizabeth Dean Scholarship awards two scholarships in the preferred amount of $5,000 each year for up to four consecutive years to graduating high school students. Scholarship recipients will pursue an undergraduate degree in American Studies at an accredited institution in the United States.

Daughters of the American Revolution in the US, a patriotic society whose aims include encouraging education and the study of US history and which tends to be politically conservative.
